Big Mouth?…Who?… Me?: I know it’s not as sharp as I would have liked (it was taken from a boat), but I thought it was interesting.

on the many ways of filtering light: large | original | My top 100 Inspired by Giorgos~ tone-mapped dandelion seed head from yesterday. This large dandelion-like seed head does not have a name yet in my personal taxonomy of flora I like to photograph. Hope someone can help me out. Large, brown seed head about the size of a baseball. In any case, it makes a nice sunset filter.

stars and stripes and drops: I placed a US flag behind the garden, and put a large piece of blue insulation behind the flag. While they look like candy-cane water drops, they are actually refracting the flag behind them ( the drop serves as a lens so the image appears upside down and backwards) Happy 4th!

Locus iste a Deo factus est…: “This place was made by God…” The beautiful Lady Chapel in Westminster Cathedral has the distinction of being the first completely decorated chapel in the cathedral, c.1903. In contrast to the dark brickwork around the chapel, the sense of awe is intensified as one enters the gleaming mosaic-decorated space with its narrative drawn from the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Vespers is beautifully sung every evening in this chapel, which adds to the numinous experience of praying in this holy space.
